Over the course of three days the best of Swedish fashion and design will be presented at the official arena Grand Hôtel as well as Bukowskis, Konstnärshuset and Skeppsholmskyrkan.
Tuesday 28th of August at 11.30 am the Swedish School of Textiles will be the opening show of Fashion Week Stockholm S/S 2019. Fashion Week Stockholm provides an important platform for debuts and young creatives, and this season’s schedule reflects this amply. Shows will succeed each other in an eventful program filled with both established and debuting brands and designers. Among others, Swedish Fashion Talents run by Swedish Fashion Council – a project with the aim to shine some extra light on tomorrow’s most influential designers. Selam Fessahaye, the costume designer of Seinabo Sey’s most recent music videos, is another exciting debut.
Lazoschmidl returns to Grand Hôtels Bolinderska with a show titled Playdate, finding its inspiration in a teenager’s interpretation of surrealist literature written by Roald Dahl and Franz Kafka. For the fourth time, the brand Nhorm will have their show curated by the creative platform Amaze. Nhorm promises a cool and elegant collection with a salty aftertaste.
Little Liffner is collaborating with the artist Evelina Kroon and together they will present an exhibition that will be open to the public until the 31st of August at Bukowskis.
The week also offers several established brands such as Ida Sjöstedt, Busnel and Filippa K – returning for another season. Filippa K, ATP Atelier and Our Legacy are taking a more intimate approach, presenting their upcoming collections in their own showrooms.
This season the Jewellery and Accessories Lounge moves to Grand Hôtel’s Bolinderska. There, the nine finalists of Designforum will present their creations inspired by this year’s theme: Altruism.
In correlation with Fashion Week Stockholm, other events are happening. For example, Absolut Iconic, a presentation with a selection of Absolut Vodka’s designer collaboration over the course of three decades. Accordingly, Absolut Vodka continues their tradition of choosing innovating designers to collaborate with, the latest additions being new and unique looks created by HAAL, Nhu Duong and Per Götesson.
Fashion Night, a public fashion show organised by Metro Mode at Norrmalmstorg, a live podcast with Woman up and Babba Canales, a collaborative fashion show created by our main partner Specsavers and the brand maxjenny! as well as a social media activation called FW Studio by Alfa Romeo with the styling expert Oscar Arrsjö; Alfa Romeo is also an official partner. Additionally, guests will be able to book an appointment with the beauty concept Fashion Weak located at Grand Hôtel’s Strömsalongerna, offering a quick-fix and a room for relaxation in between shows.
Like previous seasons, the format Fashion Talks x Creative Mornings is an enlightening part of Fashion Week Stockholm, offering discussions on different perspectives from the fashion industry open to the public. For instance, a conversation between IKEA’s Karin Gustavsson and the artist and fashion designer Martin Bergström. The talks are free of charge, but a pre-registration is required.
NK Galan 2018 occurs in correspondence with Fashion Week on the 27th of August. When the ceremony ends, the after party at Berns Salonger begins. The party marks the official opening of Fashion Week Stockholm S/S 2019.
